Galway's sixth or Limerick's 13th?

All-Ireland Senior Hurling Championship final facts and figures

ROLL OF HONOUR

HURLING’S ‘Big 3’ have amassed 95 All-Irelands between them with Kilkenny (36) followed by Cork (30) and Tipperary (29) at the summit of the roll of honour. Limerick, who enter this weekend targeting their 13th success and a sixth in nine seasons, come next. Dublin have six titles to their name and a win for Galway would move them alongside them in joint fifth in the standings. Like the Tribesmen, Clare have five All-Irelands. SECOND FINAL FOR LYONS

CORK'S Colm Lyons will referee Sunday's All-Ireland Senior Hurling Championship final between Galway and Limerick at Croke Park.

It's the second time that the Nemo Rangers clubman will take charge of hurling’s showpiece fixture, having been in the middle for the 2022 decider between Limerick and Kilkenny. He has 38 matches under his belt at Liam MacCarthy Cup level since making his debut in 2012.

Principal of Crosshaven Boys NS in Cork, Lyons refereed Galway's round-robin matches in Leinster this year against Dublin and Kilkenny and was also on line umpire duty for their provincial decider with the Boys in Blue. He also oversaw Limerick's tie with Tipperary in Munster.
