Sunflower Days raised over €100,000 for Galway Hospice

MORE than 500 volunteers came together to raise over €118,000 in funding to support specialist palliative care services across Galway.

The extraordinary support was showcased during the two-day Hospice Sunflower Days campaign, where volunteers took to the streets across Galway City and County selling sunflower pins and merchandise in the community.

Local schools also took part in the campaign by hosting Sunflower Fun Days, where children planted sunflower seeds provided by Galway Hospice.

Funds raised will help in providing specialist palliative care, free of charge to patients and families across Galway, along with a range of services that enhance quality of life and provide comfort during some of life’s most difficult moments.

“Every year, Sunflower Days remind us of the extraordinary kindness that exists within our communities,” said Mary Nash, CEO of Galway Hospice.

“The generosity shown by the people of Galway and the dedication of volunteers, helps ensure Galway Hospice can continue providing specialist palliative care and support to patients and families when they need it most,” she added.
