Michael English ready for his first ever dance in Tuam
He plays the Ard Ri Hotel on Saturday June 27
He has been one of the most popular singers on the dancing scene since his first ever hit at 18 with Nearest to Perfect, but amazingly up to now the 47-year-old Michael English still hasn’t played at a dance in Tuam.
However, that will all change this weekend on Saturday June 27th, when Michael and his band will play their first ever Tuam dance date in the Ard Rí Hotel.
Most readers will find it incredible and almost unbelievable that in all those years as a top dancing attraction Michael has never played in Tuam, which was once the home of the showband, but he confirmed this to The Tuam Herald when we called him to find out.
“Yes, that is true,” said Michael on a phone line from Spain where he was doing a sound check before playing at one of Paul Claffey’s Music and Fun in the Sun holidays last week.
“I played at a concert in the Tuam hotel organised by Paul Claffey many years ago but never did a dance in the town.
“I’m delighted that the band and myself will make our debut dance date in Tuam’s Ard Rí Hotel this Saturday night and hopefully those in attendance will want me and the band back for another dance in less than 30 years,” he quipped.
