Corrandulla Show to offer something for all the family this weekend
ONE of the largest agricultural events in the West of Ireland returns this weekend as North Galway plays host to the 2026 Corrandulla Show on Sunday, June 28.
Over 10,000 people are expected to attend the annual show, which takes place on the fourth Sunday of June every year.
There is something for all the family to enjoy, with a mix of farming competitions, showjumping, music, trade stalls and children’s entertainment.
A strong display of quality cattle will be on display at the show, with plenty of prize money on offer. There will be classes for Commercial and Pedigree Cattle alike, including the ever-popular Nutrias Baby Beef class with a healthy prize fund of €1,000.
New additions this year include the €1,000 Bonny Baby Beef competition, an additional prize fund of €500 for Best Commercial Breeding Heifer and a €500 prize fund for both Commercial and Pedigree Champions.
The Sheep Show is being extended again this year, with a prize pot of €1,000 for Supreme and Reserve Champion Sheep and Reserve Young Handler.
There are classes for all breeds of sheep. The Corrandulla Show is hosting the West of Ireland Registered Pedigree Suffolk Sheep Breeders Club Championships and the West Region Texel Club Championships.
There will be poultry competitions in classes for every breed imaginable. Egg classes and the much-loved pet classes, always popular with children, can also be found in the poultry tent.
Connemara Pony classes are always well supported in Corrandulla, while the Ridden Connemara and Open Ridden classes are popular. The Irish Draft Mare and Foal classes will again feature at the show on Sunday.
For showjumping enthusiasts, the Connacht Grand Prix is always an attraction and to add to the fun, it will be followed by a Puissance. The Dog Show will have over 24 classes for all breeds and some novelty classes.
One of the most exciting recent additions to the show has been the Leonard Catering-sponsored Music Marquee. It promises to be full to the brim all day with dancers and music lovers alike.
Getting things started at midday, the organisers of the show have put together a one-hour jive class with Gina (Jive with Gina), followed by music from John Molloy from 1pm. Paddy Tracy will take to the stage at 3pm, a session that includes a jiving competition with very generous cash prizes.
Admission to the Corrandulla Show is €15, with tickets for senior citizens and students costing €5. Children under the age of 12 accompanied by an adult enjoy free entry. For a full schedule of events visit corrandullashow.com.
