Sunday afternoon throw-in for Galway-Dublin clash

Quarter-final tickets go on sale Tuesday at midday

GALWAY will face Dublin at 4pm on Sunday in the last of the four All-Ireland Senior Football Championship quarter-final ties to be played in Croke Park at the weekend.

Galway and Dublin were the first names out of the respective pots during this morning’s draw on RTÉ Radio 1’s Morning Ireland programme. The draw was held in Silverbridge GAA Club in Armagh, the home club of GAA President Jarlath Burns.

The game will be live on RTÉ and will follow the meeting of Louth and Monaghan at 1.45pm, also on RTÉ. The Saturday quarter-finals are both on GAA+ with Mayo meeting Cork at 4pm and the reigning All-Ireland champions Kerry going up against Tyrone at 6.15pm.

Tickets for the quarter-final games go on sale tomorrow (Tuesday at midday) on Ticketmaster, and at selected SuperValu and Centra stores.

Galway were victors in 2024

This will be the third championship season in succession where Galway and Dublin have been pitted against one another. A single point has separated the counties in each of their last two championship meetings.

Padraic Joyce’s team ended Dublin’s tenure as All-Ireland champions in 2024 when they came out the right side of a 0-17 to 0-16 win in the quarter-final, ending a wait of 90 years for a Galway victory over Dublin in the All-Ireland Championship.

Dublin enacted their revenge in Salthill in last year’s All-Ireland group stage clash when a Tom Lahiff point in the final play saw them emerge from Pearse Stadium with a 1-18 to 2-14 win.

The Dubs knocked Donegal out of the 2026 All-Ireland Championship yesterday after extra-time. Dublin’s goals came from their captain Con O’Callaghan, who finished with 1-5, and Paddy Small in a 2-26 to 2-22 win.

Galway will have had a 14-day break by the time they run out at GAA HQ on Sunday following their 3-21 to 2-21 victory against Westmeath in Round 2A.
