Funding to help Galway public understand more about the EU
GALWAY organisations have received more than €69,000 in funding under the 2026 Communicating Europe Initiative (CEI).
The fundingaims to support organisations and local authorities in delivering projects that enhance public understanding of the European Union and Ireland’s role within it.
Two of the ten successful projects namely All Ireland Endorsement Body for Community Work in Headford, and Ballinderreen Community Centre Kilcolgan have received €3,000 and €4,500 respectively.
Other successful projects include the University of Galway (€2,800), Galway Public Libraries (€10,000) and Integration Galway County Council (€10,000).
Junior Minister for Transport Seán Canney said that the funding will help communities engage more closely with Europe and better understand the opportunities that come with Ireland’s membership of the European Union.
“With Ireland preparing to take on the Presidency of the Council of the European Union, it is important that people have opportunities to learn more about Europe and to take part in discussions about its future,” commented Minister Canney.
Ireland assumes the Presidency of the Council of the European Union on July 1, 2026.
