Enable Ireland launch 'Giving fancy' appeal
ENABLE Ireland is urging people in Galway to donate their once-worn formalwear to support vital services for people with disabilities.
With the approach of the Galway Races and wedding season, the charity has launched an appeal: ‘Giving Fancy’, supported by award-winning stylist from Carlow, Faith Amond.
People are asked to donate formal wear they no long want to their shop in Galway city in a bid to extend the life of these items, which are typically only worn once or twice.
Faith believes that there is a lot of excitement around getting dressed up and finding an outfit that makes you feel confident during the big occasions like the Races.
“A lot of those pieces are only worn once and then left in the wardrobe. That’s why I love what Enable Ireland is doing with this formalwear appeal,” said Ms Armond.
“By donating your outfits, you’re not only giving them a second life, but you’re also supporting such an important cause,” she added.
All profits from items donated will support Enable Ireland, which provides services to over 13,000 children and adults with disabilities.
“Donating formalwear is both a generous and sustainable choice. Through ‘Giving Fancy’, people can ensure their special pieces continue to be enjoyed, reduce waste and help fund vital disability services,” noted Oonagh O’Connor, Commercial Manager at Enable Ireland.
Donations of the items can be made at Enable Ireland’s charity shop on 3 Lower Cross Street, Galway, or the textile banks located across the county.
