DEREK Ryan will perform at Shearfest this weekend.

Tuam and Mountbellew for biggest music events

Two of the biggest music and dancing events to end May and welcome in June take place from tonight Wednesday until Sunday in Tuam and Mountbellew.

While the crowds, and the music stars will flock (pardon the pun!) to the Connacht Sheep Shearing and Dancing Festival in Mountbellew at the weekend the fans will also get into the Country music mood in Tuam tonight (Wednesday 27th) for six of Ireland’s biggest Country stars in concert.

That ageless Country star Ray Lynam, who has rarely played Tuam, and another veteran of the music scene Brendan Shine plus popular younger star Patrick Feeney are top of the bill in concert alongside John Hogan, Louise Morrissey and Kathy Durkin in the Ard Ri House Hotel.

The Tuam concert starts at 8pm with tickets available in advance from the hotel or on the door on the night.

CROWDS FOR MOUNTBELLEW

Meanwhile Mountbellew, which had the biggest June Bank Holiday Festival crowds anywhere in Galway last year, expect to break that record crowd this weekend for their event.

The music side of the Mountbellew Shearfest on Saturday night will feature one of the biggest stars on the dancing and concert scene at present Derek Ryan and his band on Saturday night with ballad group All Folk’d Up as support act.

On Sunday night Mountbellew will feature another of Ireland’s biggest dancing attractions Michael English and his band with Olivia Douglas on earlier with her show. There is also a further attraction on Sunday afternoon with line dancing demonstrations and a jiving competition with music by Sabrina Fallon. Parking for Shearfest is free for the weekend.
