Athenry Heritage Centre will receive funds for conservation
ATHENRY Arts and Heritage Centre will receive more than €90,000 under the 2026 Historic Structures Fund.
The funding will support water mitigation works in the building.
Áras na nGael in Galway City, has been allocated a total of €170,000 for essential conservation repairs to the shared historic roof of Georgian townhouse.
This brings the total investment under the scheme in Galway this year to €260,201.
Junior Minister Seán Canney said the funding will help ensure the centre is properly protected and maintained.
“It’s about keeping the buildings like this in use. They matter to communities, and with the right investment they can continue to play a real role locally. It also supports the skills and craftsmanship needed for this kind of work.”
