Taste of Galway festival begins
A FOOD festival organised by Blas na Gaillimhe (A Taste of Galway) will celebrate the county’s vibrant food community.
Launched last evening (Thursday) at Kombu Ramen and Bao Bar, the Blas na Bealtaine (A Taste of May) food festival runs through May 1 to May 31.
It will showcase local producers and chefs, as well as collaboration and international influences on Galway’s food and flavours.
The festival highlights will include the launch of a limited edition cheesecake made with Micil Irish Cream Liquer; exploring of Ireland’s wild foods and culinary traditions; workshops focused on preserving, fermenting and herbal infusions; a showcasing of Central European wines, as well as Oyster tastings and other features.
“Blas na Bealtaine really feels like the start of summer in Galway for the hospitality community," said founding member and Galway restaurateur JP McMahon.
“This year’s programme brings together a mix of global flavours and hands-on experiences that connect people more closely to the landscape and the food it produces.”
