Dunmore wool company wins award

Pillows supplied to hotels around the world

A DUNMORE wool bedding company has won a second award at the RDS for its environmental contribution.

Woolow, owned by Michael Burke from Dunblaney, won the Sustainable Rural Innovation Award at the RDS Foundation Awards.

The award recognises businesses that have used science and technology in delivering the main principles of climate-smart agriculture.

Woolow produces organic wool pillows from the sheep on Michael Burke’s farm. The pillows are made in a 300-thread cotton casing, and since the company was set up in 2018, they have been proven to improve the quality of sleep for many who use them. “It is fantastic to be recognised for the work we do at Woolow. Sustainability and science are at the heart of what we do. Wool is an ancient, renewable resource which needs to be valued more,” said Michael Burke.

In 2024, Woolow also collected the Sustainable Agri Start-Up Award at the RDS Awards.

Woolow have supplied their products to hotels around the globe since being established. Their range of available items include pillows, mattress toppers, duvets and sleep sprays.

Tuatha Terryland Forest Park based in Galway city also picked up the Community Woodland Award at the recent RDS Foundation Awards.
