Michael Healy-Rae to resign as Minister of State and will vote no confidence
Inside a heated chamber, the Government is hearing from TDs, many of whom are critical of their handling of recent events.
Independent TD Michael Healy-Rae has said he intends to vote no confidence in the government, and is submitting his resignation as Minister of State.
Michael has said he has seen grown men cry and believes the government have not listened to the people protesting.
He said: “Because of the fact that I believe this Government have left the people of Ireland down, I will be voting no confidence in the leader of the country and I will be tendering my resignation as minister of state from now.
“I adored being a minister in the Department of Agriculture because I felt I was able to do good. And I was passionate about my job.”
At the moment, there are hundreds of people outside the Dáil protesting the government, many of whom have welcomed news of Healy-Rae’s resignation.
