Council short on funds to fill potholes

GALWAY County Council are carrying out repair works on just four per cent of their road network, a figure well below the national target.
According to Senior Engineer Derek Troy, each local authority across the country is tasked with carrying out repairs on roughly ten per cent of roads located in their region. However, to keep within their current budget, the council is missing this target by six per cent.
Several councillors voiced their concerns over a growing number of potholes on the county's roads during last week’s meeting of the Ballinasloe Municipal District.
