Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor arrested in Norfolk
Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, the former British Prince, has been arrested at the Sandringham Estate in Norfolk, England.
He has been arrested on suspicion of misconduct in public office, following an investigation by Thames Valley Police.
Police had been following up on allegations that Andrew had shared sensitive information with sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.
The police were zeroing in on reports that a woman had been trafficked into the UK by Jeffrey Epstein with the sole purpose of having a sexual encounter with Mountbatten-Windsor.
Searches are being carried out by Thames Valley Police across England, with addresses in Berkshire and Norfolk.
Thames Valley Police said in a statement: “We have today arrested a man in his 60s from Norfolk on suspicion of misconduct in public office and are carrying out searches.
“The man remains in police custody at this time.”
Chief Constable of Thames Valley Police, Oliver Wright, said: “Following a thorough assessment, we have now opened an investigation into this allegation of misconduct in public office.
“It is important that we protect the integrity and objectivity of our investigation as we work with our partners to investigate this alleged offence. We understand the significant public interest in this case, and we will provide updates at the appropriate time.”
