‘Huge, huge honour’ for Clonberne farmer to serve as Galway IFA Chair
Starting out new role at protest
THE new Galway IFA Chair was in Dublin on Monday at the ongoing protest outside Bord Bia’s headquarters.
Micheal Haverty from Clonberne was elected unopposed to a four-year term as Chair at last Thursday’s Galway IFA AGM in the Raheen Woods Hotel in Athenry, replacing Stephen Canavan in the position.
“It’s a huge, huge honour to be elected and to be able to represent my own IFA branch in Clonberne,” said Micheal Haverty, who has been the Galway IFA Livestock Representative for the past four years.
Haverty was joined on Monday by other Galway IFA members for the IFA’s rolling protest at Bord Bia’s head offices in Dublin.
