All-Ireland crown for Abbey’s Set Dancers

Club's eighth title

THERE was great success for Abbeyknockmoy at the GAA All-Ireland Scór na nÓg competition, as they secured their first All-Ireland Set Dancing title since 2020.

The team of Sean McDermott, Jack Gildea, Ben McNama, Emmet Dooley, Daisy Nolan, Ava Loughnane, Ruairí Concannon and Hannah Walsh took home the U17 Scór title in Killarney, securing the club’s eighth title in set dancing across the senior and junior ranks.

For some of the group, this was their third time competing at this level, having come agonisingly close on both previous occasions to taking the national crown. But months of rigorous practice saw them finally come out on top in 2026.

“A mix of great footwork, wonderful stage presence and their outfits got them over the line at the weekend. The same club from Kerry took the title for the past three years so it was great to take back the crown,” a spokesperson for the club coaches told The Tuam Herald.
