Tuam shock high-flying Ballina

TUAM produced one of the shocks of the last 16 phase of the Bank of Ireland Connacht Junior Cup last weekend when they overcame seven-time winners Ballina at a very wet and windy Garraun Park.
Ballina came into this contest as red-hot favourites and were facing Tuam for the third time this season. They had defeated the Galway men on both previous occasions, first prevailing when they met in the Cawley Cup with the Mayo men going on to win that competition. Then last month, Mickey Murphy's side proved too strong for Tuam as they ran out emphatic winners when they met in the J1A League as the table toppers preserved their unbeaten start to the season.
