St Mary’s Cathedral Tuam to host beautiful Baroque concert
THE Galway Baroque Singers and Burren Baroque Ensemble are performing a special free concert in St Mary’s Cathedral Tuam at 7.30pm on Saturday, January 17.
This concert will include well-known music from Mozart, Vivaldi, Haydn and Handel. Galway Baroque Singers are based in Galway City and since 1982 the choir have performed many important oratorios, masses and choral works including performances with the RTÉ Symphony Orchestra in the National Concert Hall.
Since 2022 the group has been conducted by Peter Mannion. Peter, a native of Belclare, is a past pupil of St Jarlaths’ College Tuam and credits his musical education there under the watchful eye of Noel Kirrane for giving him the skills to conduct baroque music.
Entry is free
The Burren Baroque Ensemble are a string ensemble that are based in Kinvara with the players also performing in the Kinvara Community Orchestra. This will be the third concert given by both groups after two exceptionally successful concerts in Kiltartan, Gort and New Quay in Clare.
The concert will last just over an hour and entry is free. Donations will be gratefully accepted for the upkeep of the venue. The concert organisers would like to extend an invitation to anybody who would enjoy a recital of some of the most iconic classical music to join them in Tuam for this special concert.
