Motorway speed into Mountbellew
Over 1,800 checkpoints around county
A MOTORIST was caught by Gardai travelling at 128kph in a 60kph zone coming into Mountbellew town on New Year’s Eve.
The culprit was one of many motorists who were detected travelling at speeds well above the limits during the special garda operation during December and early January.
There were 1,800 high-visibility garda checkpoints put in place during the campaign in Co Galway with 240 of these mounted in the Tuam area.
