Extra time sees extra submissions to Headford active travel scheme

NEARLY 50 public submissions have been made to planned changes to Headford's Church Street after a last-minute extension to consultations on the scheme.

Members of the public were given one last chance to give their opinions on the proposed Headford Active Travel Scheme for Church Street where Galway County Council have proposed several changes be made at two locations in the town, along the Church Road and the L-21031, the access road to Presentation College Headford in a bid to improve pedestrian safety.

The plans have been available to view online since December 11. The public consultation was initially set to close last Friday January 2 with just a single submission received. That led to calls to extend the public consultation period further.

Following discussions between Cllr Mary Hoade and the Council’s Active Travel Team, the deadline was extended until this Friday January 9 at 12pm with nearly 50 now submitted at the time of print. Cllr Hoade is urging more locals to make submissions over the coming days.
