Appeal for volunteers to help combat loneliness
GALWAY Rural Development (GRD) are on the lookout for volunteers to help enhance their programme which helps combat loneliness
The Social Prescribing programme is a service for people who are lonely and socially isolated and want to improve their quality of life by being connected with local community groups, activities and services, helping them meet new people in their area.
GRD currently helps those in the surrounding areas of Tuam, Athenry and Loughrea, putting people in touch with groups such as local men’s sheds, creative writing groups, sports clubs, alongside a host of courses and volunteering opportunities.
