Shop closes after more than 100 years in business
ONE of Tuam’s best-known premises closed its doors after 105 years of business on Saturday, October 25.
Hynes’ shop drew people of all ages inside its doors for more than a century, as four generations of the Hynes’ family served customers inside the building.
Christina Hynes has moved the last of the remaining sweets, crisps and other items a short walk along Bishop Street to Hynes Gift Shop, where she is now selling them alongside toys, Mass and Christmas cards, and teddy bears ahead of the Christmas season.
