Costello chosen on Premier Division Team of the Year

SOCCER star Aoibheann Costello has been rewarded for her magnificent season with Galway United by earning selection on the PFA Ireland Women's Premier Division Team of the Year.

The Milltown native played at right-back in a season that saw Galway United finish third in the table behind both Shelbourne and Premier Division and FAI Cup champions Athlone Town.

Aoibheann played with Cregmore Claregalway FC as a youth before starting her senior career with Galway WFC. She signed for Galway United ahead of the 2023 season and has remained there since, winning back-to-back All-Island Cups.

The PFAI Team of the Year was voted for by the players and the remainder of the team is made up of representatives from double winners Athlone Town, Shamrock Rovers, Peamount United, Wexford, Treaty United and Shelbourne.
