Farm and family fun planned for Mountbellew Agricultural Show

Large crowds expected

THE grounds of the ATU Agricultural College in Mountbellew will play host to the 2025 Mountbellew Agricultural Show this Saturday, August 23.

This year’s show contains a number of new features to pique the interest of patrons.

Pedigree continental cattle from across the west of Ireland will compete for the rosettes on offer on Saturday. The All-Ireland Traditional Sport Horse, which has a prize fund of €2,500, is one of the main categories in the horse and pony section of the show.

The All-Ireland final of the Ewe Lamb competition is set to be one of the main attractions in the show’s sheep section. There will be several trade stands on Saturday, as well as entertainment, games, a magic and puppet show, and Daisy the Cow in the Kiddies Corner.

Galway East TD Pete Roche will be the guest of honour on Saturday and the official opening of the show takes place at 1pm.

“The committee are hopeful that the show will attract people who have never attended an agricultural show before and there will be something of interest for all people from all walks of life,” said Frank Collevy, the Chairman of the Mountbellew Agricultural Show committee.

The Mountbellew Agricultural Show was first held in 1904, and bar a couple of noteworthy exceptions, has been held annually ever since.
