Dunmore man to walk 200km in five days for Parkinson’s
John’s wife grateful for local supports
A DUNMORE man has taken on the gruelling Five Marathons in Five Days challenge to raise funds for the Galway branch of Parkinson’s Ireland, which has been of great support to his wife.
John Mullarkey aka Sean O Maoilearca from Cloonkeen, Dunmore will walk more than 200km in five days starting from Croke Park, Dublin today, Wednesday, August 6 to Stira Park, Dunmore on Sunday, August 10.
John decided to take on the challenge as a gesture of gratitude towards Galway Parkinson’s which have been so supportive to his wife Paula, who was diagnosed with the disease in 2019.
“Parkinsons has been in my wife’s family for some time now, as her dad and his partner both had it and now Paula herself was diagnosed with it a few years ago," explained John.
