Claregalway U-15s Best in Ireland

By Darren Kelly

CLAREGALWAY created history on Saturday as their U-15 ladies footballers were crowned National Féile champions for the fourth time at Derry GAA’s Centre of Excellence in Owenbeg.

The north Galway team moved clear from New York, Dublin’s Foxrock-Cabinteely and Kerry’s Southern Gaels to sit top of the roll of honour following successes in 2010, ’11 and ’19.

It was also a special day for eight squad members who won Division 1 camogie honours with Turloughmore just seven days earlier – Kym McNulty, Alannah Hughes, Saorlaith Ní Mhuireadhaigh, Éabha McSharry, Saoirse Mc Evoy, Ellen Clarke, Dearbhail Forde and Amy Costello.

After competing in the national finals in 2024, Claregalway were quietly confident heading up for a two-night stay in Ballybofey, but a tough group awaited containing four in-row chasing New York, Kerry’s MK Gaels and Derry’s Ballinderry Shamrocks.
