Corrandulla Show will attract thousands this weekend
ONE of the biggest agricultural shows on the island returns to Corrandulla on Sunday, June 22.
The Corrandulla Show also doubles as one of the largest outdoor events in Connacht, accepting thousands of patrons past the turnstiles in Corrandulla village on the fourth Sunday of June each year. The show was officially launched in Peggy’s Bar and Restaurant in Annaghdown recently and is organised by a dedicated committee of volunteers.
The ‘Music Marquee’ has been a welcome addition to the show’s attractions in recent years. Sponsored by Leonard Catering, entertainment in the marquee starts at midday on Sunday (June 22) with the Claregalway Community Choir taking to the stage before country music singers Sabrina Fallon and Olivia Douglas.
ECC Timber Products and Lucky Day Competitions are sponsoring prize funds in the cattle section of the show. Sheep classes will be plentiful in Corrandulla, as will poultry, egg and pet classes.
Connemara Pony classes are a popular feature of the show each year, through the ridden Connemara and open ridden competitions. The Irish Draft and non-thoroughbred mare and foal classes are returning this year.
The Connacht Grand Prix in showjumping gets underway from 9am.
The dog show is set to be stacked with more than 24 classes, while there will be a fun fair and free children’s entertainment, as well as a big screen for patrons interested in taking in the GAA action at the Corrandulla Show.
The Old Hall will be the venue for the ‘Bonny Baby Show’ and the ‘Little Miss and Little Mister’ competitions which begin at 1.30pm.
A variety of market stalls will be in place on Sunday week. Trade stands must be pre-booked, with inquiries to be emailed to corrandullashow.traders@gmail.com.
