THOUSANDS passed through the turnstiles at Mountbellew Mart over the June Bank Holiday weekend to take in the raft of events on offer for Shearfest 2025.

Sheep shearing was the main attraction, naturally. Heats, semi-finals and finals were held in different categories in the European and Connacht Sheep Shearing and Woolhandling Championships on Saturday and Sunday on a specially designed state inside the sheep shearing hall.

This year was the first time that the European Championships were hosted in Ireland, but there was something at Mountbellew Mart for persons of all ages to enjoy, whether it was ovine related or not.
