Corrandulla Show prepares to launch

THIS year’s Corrandulla Show, one of the biggest agricultural shows in the region, will be officially launched this Friday.

Crowds of over 10,000 people are expected to attend the event taking place on Sunday, June 22.

As well as the regular show activities, there will be children’s entertainment, a selection of market stalls, a Fun Fair and lots of novelties for all ages.

The show will be officially launched in Peggy’s Bar & Restaurant, Aucloggeen on Friday, May 30 at 8pm. The launch is a fun night for all and celebrates the show’s generous sponsors, loyal landowners and wonderful volunteers without whom the show would never be possible.

Show schedules are now available with details of all the competitions and events on offer, they are also available online at www.corrandullashow.com.

As usual there will be an extensive Cattle Show, a Dog & Pet Show, extended Poultry & Egg Section, Machinery displays, a Sheaf Throwing competition, home baking, Arts & Crafts and Photography classes for all ages. In addition to the Bonny Baby show, there will be a Little Miss and Little Mister competition for children aged 3 to 5 years.

Corrandulla Show also hosts a huge variety of events including Connemara Pony Classes, both In-Hand and Ridden, Horse & Pony Jumping including the Connacht Grand Prix and the Harrington Group Puissance, both competitions are a huge draw for both competitors and audience alike.

In the Horse Section there will be classes for Irish Draft Mares & Foals and Non-Thoroughbred Mares and Foals again this year. There will be an extensive Sheep Show with classes for most popular breeds, as well as a Young Handlers class and a ‘Fancy Dressed Pet Lamb with a Bottle’.

The cattle section of the show are hugely excited about a major new attraction, Lucky Day Competitions will sponsor the Commercial Championship to the tune of €1,000, the organisers expect a strong display of quality cattle to line out and do battle for this prize fund.

Long-standing show supporters ECC Timber Products will match this and put up a further €1,000 for the Pedigree Championship.

Those interested in showing Horses, Ponies, Cattle, Sheep and Poultry must pre-enter and entries close June 13.
