Moylough woman winner in Carer of Year awards

A CARER from Moylough has been named the regional winner of the Comfort Keepers Carer of the Year Awards 2025.

Breda Lyons received the award for her high standard in caring and her dedication to her work. She was among ten finalists from around the country at the awards held in Dublin.

Breda has been a carer for the last seven years, working with Comfort Keepers, a homecare company that works closely with the HSE, their clients and their families.

She became a carer after watching her mother care for her granny, and then caring for her mother-in-law in her own home.

“I am honoured to receive this recognition for helping to make my Galway clients’ day a little easier, enabling them to stay as independent as possible within their own homes,” said Breda.

She takes great pride in her role as a carer and in helping make a difference in people’s lives.

“I love working at Comfort Keepers, and one of the most rewarding parts is the connection I build with my clients, from sitting and chatting with them and listening to them, it really supports their emotional wellbeing,” she added.

Collette Gleeson, CEO of Comfort Keepers, said: “We have been providing homecare services to homes and communities across Ireland for over 20 years, and what our teams do is much more than just daily support.

Ms Gleeson described Breda as a natural carer, who brings compassion, kindness and good humour to any setting.

“She is a fabulous ambassador for Comfort Keepers and a very deserving regional winner,” said Ms Gleeson.
