Abbey’s rainman hadn’t seen a drop since April 25!

THERE hadn't been a drop of rain recorded at a location in Abbeyknockmoy in almost four weeks, as of Tuesday afternoon.

Amateur meteorologist Brendan Geraghty said he hasn’t seen rain in his measuring gauge since April 25, and remarked how it’s “great bog weather” as the spell of rainless weather rolled on amid splendid sunshine and regular temperatures of 20-plus degrees.

“That was the last rainfall I collected (April 25),” said Brendan Geraghty. “There’s been none for over three weeks. That’s unusual now.

The prolonged dry weather is due to come to an abrupt end this weekend when significant amounts of rainfall are forecast for most of the county and temperatures are set to fall to 12 to 15 degrees.
