Councillors eager for one-hour free parking
The Chief Executive of Galway County Council has described parking fees across the county as extremely good value, so good that he feels they should be increased.
CEO Liam Conneally made his comments at a recent meeting of Galway County Council where councillors discussed the possibility of introducing one-hour free parking in towns across the county.
Williamstown Councillor Declan Geraghty believed giving people one-hour's free parking would help business owners in owns across the county such as Tuam or Athenry.
Paid-for parking in towns currently brings in €300,000 for the County Council each year and the CEO was wary of introducing a free hour. “I think parking charges ......... .
