Appeal for vandals to come forward
CREGMORE Claregalway FC are calling on those responsible for the damage to their nets at the weekend to come forward or risk facing criminal charges.
Over the weekend the four nets on their two pitches were damaged beyond repair, as a series of large holes were cut to leave the nets completely unusable for matches.
The incident occurred between 8pm on Saturday, when the last club volunteer left the facility, and 12pm on Sunday when the damage was discovered. The club have since reported the vandalism to the Gardaí, who have visited the site and are investigating the incident.
“It costs around €300 for a set of nets, so the club are faced with a hefty bill of €600, which is not ideal,” Cregmore Claregalway FC Chairman Dave Sexton told The Tuam Herald.
