Consultation night to advise on real effects of windfarm turbines

A CONSULTATION evening for homeowners affected by plans to develop a wind farm in the Kilconly-Caherlistrane area is being held next Monday, March 18, where further information on the controversial development will be shared with the public.

Shancloon Windfarm Action Group is hosting the event at Kilconly Community Centre at 7pm, where interactive displays and large-scale maps will show residents how close their properties are to the 11 turbines planned by RWE Energy. The effect of shadow flicker from the turbine blades will also be replicated on the night.

A planning application is imminent by the German energy group and members of the Action Group are preparing their submission to oppose the development on several environmental grounds.

The group is also launching a fundraising drive to support the cost of the planning submission, with an initial target of €10,000…
