A DESERVING WINNER

Clonberne teenager Liam receives Bravery Award

THE Bravery Award received by Clonberne’s Liam Mac An tSaoi is a testament to the 13-year-old’s resilience and character.

Liam was chosen for the Children’s Bravery Award by the Galway Sick Kids Foundation. Liam picked up his award at their recent Gala Ball in the Galway Bay Hotel, with his mother Louise, brothers Fiachna and Cormac, and niece Hollie-Grainne by his side.

“It kind of came out of the blue,” said Louise Mac An tSaoi. “A paediatrician with Galway Sick Kids Foundation nominated Liam for the award. She said he was very deserving of it after all he’d been through.

“It’s a lovely competition and there is a lot of very deserving children out there. We’re happy that they chose Liam for the award this year.”

Liam was born premature at 26 weeks old and weighed 14 oz. He spent the majority of the first four years of his life in hospital, at Our Lady’s Hospital for Sick Children in Crumlin mostly, and then for a short spell in University Hospital Galway before he moved home to Clonberne…
