Residents plead for urgent action to prevent tragedy

RESIDENTS living along a treacherous stretch of road in Caherlistrane are appealing for urgent works to prevent another fatality in the area.

The road at Cave has witnessed six serious crashes in the past few years with one young woman losing her life in an accident at the notorious blackspot in 2020.

In the past two weeks alone, considerable damage has been caused to walls on both sides of the road, when a cattle truck veered into one property, with the driver of another car breaking through a boundary wall on the opposite side of the road.

Last Thursday morning, 61 weanlings had to be transferred to other trucks after the vehicle they were being transported in smashed into the front wall of Oliver Curley’s home.

“We heard the bang at 5am and when we went out the front wall was gone and the cab of the truck had dislodged at the gate,” said Oliver…
