Remembering Charlotte

Memorial garden celebrates life of late Tuam woman

AN outdoor garden where people can gather, chat or even have a party has been created in the former Australian workplace of a young Tuam woman who died two years ago.

This Saturday will be the second anniversary Mass for the late Charlotte Sweeney from Kilcloghans, who passed away on December 16, 2021, from metastatic breast cancer. She was aged just 41.

Her mother Virgie says she has been “flabbergasted” by the outpouring of support from people in Tuam and abroad who continue to share their personal memories of her youngest daughter.

Charlotte lived in Brisbane, Australia, for nearly ten years and adored her work and workplace, said Virgie, who was taken aback when she was contacted earlier this year by Charlotte’s former work colleagues at Vaxxas telling her that they were designing an outdoor garden and recreation space in memory of Charlotte as part of their new building.

A sign explaining the garden is a perfect match to Charlotte’s personality and passions…
