Tuam Mart Sale

In-calf heifers weighing between 700kg and 800kg up for auction

TUAM Mart is the venue for the sale of 72 in-calf heifers on Monday evening.

The sale begins at 7.30pm on Monday October 23, and the livestock belong to Norman Connolly, a farmer from Cortoon in his fifth year of running an in-calf heifer operation.

The heifers will be calving between the ages of 28 and 36 months, with 58 of them due to calf between November and the end of December, and the following 14 to give birth in January.

All heifers have been export tested and will be free to leave Tuam Mart the morning after Monday’s sale.

The heifers on offer weigh between 700kg and 800kg, and include breeds such as Belgian Blues, Roans, Black and Red Limousins, Simmental Crosses and Charolais Crosses.

Aside from bidding in person at Tuam Mart, buyers can access the sale online through MartBids.ie. Catalogues of the in-calf heifer sale are available on site at Tuam Mart.

A catalogue can be sent out to prospective buyers via post or by contacting Norman Connolly directly (086-3412747).

The heifers can also be viewed on the Premium Incalf Heifer and Tuam Mart Facebook pages.

The draw for the Lavally National School playground development fundraiser will also take place on Monday at Tuam Mart. Top prize in the raffle is ‘Lola’ the Limousin heifer or €2,200 in cash.
