Pub’s open invite to Taylor Swift
Reconstructed pub receiving global attention
A PICTURE from JJ Devine’s Public House, out the back of Mee’s Pub in Kilkerrin, happened to be one of the most viewed photos on the Reuters international media organisation’s website last week.
The picture is indeed worthy of viewing, as it shows local man Pake Diskin giving a sip from his pint of Guinness to a donkey named Holly.
JJ Devine’s featured in the Banshees of Inisherin movie. Luke Mee was the driving force behind transporting the raw materials for the fictional pub from Achill Island to Kilkerrin, traversing 130km across two trips in a truck to reconstruct the pub, which had its official opening night on Saturday July 1.
“It was packed inside and outside, inside in the main pub and outside in JJ Devine’s. There was a full house from 7pm onwards,” said Luke Mee, who runs Mee’s Pub with his sister Kathleen and her partner Pat Igoe, of the opening night…
