School celebrates ‘amazing span of history’

SEVERAL generations of the Claran community gathered at the weekend to celebrate the 150th anniversary of Scoil Naomh Fursa National School, which has educated families in the greater Headford area since it opened its doors in 1873.

The current cohort of pupils led the celebrations with a musical performance, punctuated by reflections sharing the unique history of their school, while their proud families, many of whom were past pupils of the school, looked on.

Welcoming everyone to the celebrations, Principal Caitlín Ní Éanacháin said the anniversary marked an amazing span of history that deserved celebration.

“I am privileged as Principal to work with an exceptional team who give so much of themselves for the benefit of all children. Together in Claran NS we work hard to provide a stimulating and positive learning environment where every child can reach their full potential,” she said.
