Milltown mother honoured for 35 years of fostering

There are 245 children in foster care in Galway

A MILLTOWN mother has been honoured for her care of foster children that has spanned 35 years and has seen 60 young people taken into her family home.

Deirdre Burke is a mother of six, and grandmother of six, who is one of Galway’s long term foster carers. Her dedication to children was honoured at a special ceremony in City Hall last week along with other foster carers who have given over 20 years of their lives to help children and young people.
