Tuam Beat hits Mayo venue

Leo and Padraig perform together

THREE of Tuam’s well-renowned singer-songwriters will take to the stage together this weekend for a special concert in Claremorris.

Padraig Stevens and Leo Moran have many decades of writing and performing music and songs together.

They have known each other since the formation of The Saw Doctors over 30 years ago and have recorded together and performed as a duo on several occasions.

A native of Sligo, Padraig has certainly earned his Shamtown status now and his talent for weaving words has been showcased by performances of his work by The Saw Doctors, Matt Keane, Michael English and, of course, Christy Moore, who released his own version of The Tuam Beat.

Founding member and lead-guitarist with The Saw Doctors Leo Moran takes a break from rehearsals for their upcoming schedule of live concerts this summer to join his friend Padraig for the Claremorris show.

Another Tuam prolific singer and songwriter, Seamus Ruttledge, will be among the friends playing on the night, along with Tony Reidy from Aughagower, near Westport, Co Mayo.
