Making a break for Tuam Cancer Care
Tournament to remember one of Tuam’s best ever snooker players
136 is the highest recorded snooker break in Tuam, and it was recorded by the late Adrian Dunleavy.
Adrian Dunleavy was the first snooker player from Tuam to make the Connacht inter-provincial team; he played exhibition games against World snooker champions Ken Doherty and Steve Davis; and his 136 break has never been matched or bested.
“He made it around 1987 and the record still stands to this day as the highest ever break in Tuam,” said Adrian’s friend, Hughie O’Donnell.
“He was very proud of it, it was one of his best achievements and he used to remind us of it!”
Hughie has been busy organising the inaugural Adrian Dunleavy Snooker Memorial Cup, which takes place this Saturday and Sunday at the Hotshots Snooker Club on the Tuam Road in Galway.
Aidan Connaughton, of Aidan Connaughton Photography in Tuam, is sponsoring the event…
