Facelift for heritage sites

Funding will help rescue historic landmarks

FUNDING has been awarded to carry out much-needed conservation works at three historic sites in North Galway.

Temple Jarlath, the ecclesiastical site in the centre of Tuam town has been allocated €28,905 while the centuries old graveyard in Kilcreevanty in Kilbannon will receive funding of €27,675.

Heritage town Athenry has been awarded just under €100,000 for works at the historical St Mary’s graveyard, close to the town’s square and adjoining the heritage centre.
