Thespians to descend on Glenamaddy

59th All-Ireland Confined Drama Finals take centre stage

Some of the top thespians from around Ireland will descend on Glenamaddy as the town gets set for its third hosting of the All-Ireland Confined Drama Finals.

Nine plays from nine different drama groups, from different parts of the island, will be staged across nine straight nights from April 13 to April 21 in the Glenamaddy Community Centre (F45 Y030).

The awards ceremony is being held on Saturday April 22, in Raftery’s Oakland Hotel, where the overall champion shall be crowned.

The All-Ireland Confined Drama Finals is into its 59th year. Sponsored by Bostik, it is run through the Amateur Drama Council of Ireland (ADCI), and the draw for this year’s finalists was confirmed at the Town Hall Theatre in Glenamaddy last Sunday.

The draw was conducted by Peter Keaveney, Chairman of the Glenamaddy Theatre Festival Committee, and Mairead Broderick, Secretary of the ADCI. Coman Keaveney, Director of the Glenamaddy Theatre Festival Committee, was also on hand to welcome the respective drama group representatives to the town...
