Tuam playground falls silent after it is closed due to it deemed ‘dangerous’

A PUBLIC playground located at the Dublin Road in Tuam has been closed indefinitely after being deemed “too dangerous” for children to use by Galway County Council.

Senior engineer with the council, Paul Connolly, told a recent meeting of the Tuam Municipal District that the reason behind the closure was “everything in it is quite dangerous”.

Local councillor Karey McHugh initially raised the issue and queried why the playground was closed.

Mr Connolly said: “The Dublin Road playground is dangerous. Again, this morning I got an email regarding community funding, and we’ll explore that. We realise it is a civic amenity and we’ll look at getting it open again…
