Minister leaves Tuam with handmade gift

Sustainability grant crucial to Men’s Sheds

MINISTER for Social Protection Heather Humphreys was presented with a handmade wooden bowl when she visited Tuam Men’s Shed on Friday.

The bowl was crafted by the oldest of the 25 members of the Men’s Shed, Owen Durkan (85), a retired Garda Sergeant who made the gift for the Minister for Rural and Community Development and Social Protection ahead of her visit to the West.

The members of Tuam Men’s Shed were delighted to have the Minister at their base on the Dublin Road in the town, along with Galway East TD Seán Canney and Fine Gael Councillor Pete Roche.

Like many of the 400 and more Men’s Sheds nationwide, Tuam has availed of their cut of the €800,000 sustainability grant announced by Minister Humphreys last November to aid Men’s Sheds with output costs…
