Martina still buzzing after Arctic challenge

HER fingers and toes are still tingling but Dunmore’s Martina Parker has made it back having trekked through snow in sub-zero temperatures to experience the Arctic Circle’s first sunrise of the new year.

Martina was one of 15 people who took on the challenge with Sightsavers Ireland and she is delighted to exceed her target of €5,000, having raised more than €8,000 for the charity.

The family’s ‘cold creature’ layered-up for her visit to Norway and Finland and told The Tuam Herald that she quickly learned to keep moving after her feet went numb after her first day.

“We really needed those first few days to acclimatise because the cold is definitely at a different level,” Martina explained…
