Peter McVerry Trust open new regional office in Tuam

Appeal to those owning derelict properties to make them available

PLANS to increase the number of people being supported by the Peter McVerry Trust in Galway, Mayo and Roscommon were announced at the official opening of the charity’s new regional office in Tuam last week.

Minister of State for Disabilities Anne Rabbitte cut the ribbon on the office located at the N17 Business Park last Thursday, when CEO of Peter McVerry Trust Pat Doyle announced plans to enhance its service in the region.

A further 101 accommodation units will come on stream next year, adding to the 86 units currently being provided to clients throughout the three counties.

The charity has developed and renovated a range of housing over the past 18 months, with 11 apartments in Tuam town centre among the accommodation it is providing to those with a housing need.

Speaking at the official opening, Minister Rabbitte welcomed Peter McVerry Trust to the West and thanked them for the work they were doing in the community.

“It is not just the provision of a key for a front door that you are doing, the wraparound support you provide to those who need it most is of immense importance,” she said…
