Old Grove due to open next June

Former private hospital transformed into Community Mental Health Campus

THE multi-million-euro revamp of the former private Grove hospital in Tuam is on target to open in June 2023.

The old Bon Secours hospital on Vicar Street had been left unused for 20 years, but over the past 18 months it has been impressively refurbished and extended.

Hoarding around the site came down just over a month ago and revealed the significant works that have been carried out.

A spokesperson for the HSE Estates told The Tuam Herald that it anticipates that once the construction work is completed and the equipment is installed and commissioned, the building would likely be ready to occupy in June 2023.

The new town centre campus will see mental health services become more centrally located and the winding down of mental health facilities at the Toghermore campus on the town’s outskirts…
